The Sittaford Mystery is a crime novel by Agatha Christie, first published in 1931. Mrs. Willett and her daughter were having a good night playing with their neighbors in their home when they decided to play a game of table-turning (a game to communicate with spirits) to kill some time. Mysteriously, the game suddenly announced that Captain Trevelyan, one of their neighbor was murdered. Shocked by this, Major Burnaby decided to leave Mrs. Willet's house and check his friend's condition in his house and found out that his friend was already dead.
Just like the writer's other books, the characters in this novel are all well-developed and each has their own presence in the story. Interestingly, there are 2 characters that play the detective role, one of them has a personal relationship with the suspect. It's really amusing to follow the different methods and ideas that the two of them display for solving the case.
Although I think the ending is a bit underwhelming, I have to appreciate the amount of effort that went into putting so many plot lines into one satisfying story. There's so much going on in the story but in the end, all of it just makes sense.
