The Time of Contempt is Andrzej Sapkoski's fourth entry of The Witcher series chronologically and the second volume of Geralt of Rivia's main novels after Blood of Elves. In the hours of fear and death brought by the powerful Nilfgaard kingdom, things get even more complicated and dangerous as ever. The enigmatic emperor of Nylfgard is making his move in the war. So did the powerful sorcerers and sorceresses in the Chapter of Wizards. The blood is already spilled. The swords are drawn. In the dawn of the new war, Geralt is offered an alliance that would guarantee Ciri's safety in the price of his neutrality. Not even the infamous witcher knows what will happen next as he finds himself in the middle of an all-new confrontation between the most powerful individuals in the land.
This is the best fantasy story I've ever read, period. It's so massive and spectacular, yet so personal and empathetic. The story is still a long way to be concluded but the starting conflict is here. Geralt and Ciri, the two main figures in the story, are finally facing their enemies and what an enemy they are.
Bottom line, I'm in love with this series and I can't wait to read the rest of it.
