Turtles All The Way Down is a drama/slice-of-life/romance book by John Green. The same person who wrote The Fault in Our Stars. I haven't read a lot of romance stories, but I think this book is a good one.
The story mainly follows high-schoolers: Aza Holmes, our main character who has problems with her anxiety; her best friend, Daisy Ramirez; and her rich old friend/crush Davis Pickett. Life was the same as usual for Aza, when one day Davis' father was caught involved in a fraud case and went missing before he could be arrested. A hundred thousand dollar was offered for anyone that could provide informations about his whereabout. Davis' father left him and his younger brother, Noah, alone in their home. Intrigued by the prize promised, Aza and Daisy decided to investigate things themselves.
The best part about this book for me is definitely the characters. I really enjoy spending time, getting to know each one of them. Every character has their own way of doing things, motivations, and internal struggles, all in a balanced dose. Sometimes in a storytelling, dwelling too much into a character's thoughts could backfired and make the character obnoxious and annoying, especially here with the main character, Aza, who has an anxiety problem. But, that didn't happen and I still like the character.
The plot, however, is the weakest part of this book (for me, at least). There's so little happening in the story, plot-wise. I find most of them really cliche and predictable. But this is really a subjective matter, I think some people will like it as well. Keeping the plot simple clearly makes a great room for fleshing out the characters better.
Overall, I love this book and couldn't wait to read John Green's other books.
