Carrie is Stephen King's first published novel from 1974. The story revolves around Carrie White, a young woman who has a special ability to move things with her mind. She lives with her strict and religious mother whose teachings make her bullied by her friends in school. One incident leads to another until Carrie decides to go to the Prom with his friend against her mother's will.
Carrie is one interesting horror novel. There's only one thing's going on in the story and the book is really short compared to the author's recent works, but every word beautifully captures all the necessary elements for one effective and impactful horror story. And I think this book laid the groundwork for Stephen King's storytelling style in his many next works. The disturbing imagery, the alluring supernatural aspects, the focus on the psychological aspect of the characters, the ending that gives you even more questions than answers. It's all there. And it's all brilliant.
