Journal #37

Nothing particularly interesting happened this week. So, I'll just write random things that cross my mind.

Today, I bought a soursop juice in a convenience store. I wanted to buy an apple juice, but they didn't have it. Somebody was talking about Apple the computer on the Internet, when suddenly I want to buy apple juice.

There was supposed to be a class on Friday but suddenly it was cancelled. So, sleep I do.

I'm currently reading The War of the Worlds. I hate it so far because the book just constantly uses obscure words. What's wrong with simple English?

Debby, one of our oldest cats, hates being in our home. It's been weeks since we let him outside even during the nights. At first, he rarely visited again. But, recently he showed up more often. To eat, of course.

What else am I supposed to write?

Did you know that REM (sleep stage that mainly responsible for dreams) is discovered in 1952? Or that there is a scientific study for dreams called oneirology? Or that there's this old novel about a guy whose dreams can alter reality? A study says that dreams are a by-product of some activities in your brain that consolidate new memories and reinforce old memories. Before that, dreams occupied the realm of legends. God of sleep, Morpheus. Baku, Japanese benevolent mythical creatures that eats nightmares. The concept of dreams are also used as a plot device in writing. You've seen it many times, most likely. The character goes through trials in an alternate world (dream world) and must learn a certain moral or wisdom before returning to the real world. There's also a story by Junji Ito about a person whose dreams last for a year. Each time, the duration will increase. I want to read it, but I'm too scared to read anything from the writer.

What else is happening?

Ruth Ware, the author of In a Dark Dark Wood, released a new book, The Death of Mrs. Westaway. The premise looks good. Stephen King's The Outsider also looks great.

Sword Art Online's coming next season. Really exciting. I've always wanted to know what is Alicization. I hope it's good. There's also Tokyo Ghoul. I don't like the last season, but I've already invested too much time on this series. And also HxH is starting again tomorrow! I bet it'll only last for like a month or two, though.

What else?

I feel like there's supposed to be a class just about CSS because of how powerful it actually is. More than just making a text red or something.

I also tried making an npm package by following a tutorial. It's really fun. Easier than python package. In the tutorial, it is said that there's a person who writes more than 600 npm packages. He/she said that a package was supposed to be really small, for example a package for checking if a number is zero or not.

That's a lot of random thoughts. Till tomorrow!
